A prototype is a rough version or mock-up of the product we want to produce. It's a brief model outlining the precise ideas behind the finished item. I looked more closely at my process throughout the prototype phase, which showed me where I might make improvements.

Additionally, prototypes helped assist me in gaining fresh perspectives as I work on the project. The opportunity to make changes to the final product design is the most well-known advantage of prototyping. When a product is in a 3D, functional form, defects or prospective problems are frequently simpler to spot. Prototyping allows you to validate your manufacturing process as well as the product you are creating.

A higher-quality product can result from demonstrating and optimising the manufacturing processes, which also makes it simpler to scale up production. I created models out of plaster of Paris to test my original drawing concepts in three dimensions. By using plaster of Paris I could substitute extra plaster by cutting in by blade.

Scale modelling facilitates the dissemination of our product concepts to others. I made a 1: 15 ratio small scale model out of styro form. This helped me to display context and detail, which are very difficult to understand in virtual visualisations.

I was able to make my final design out of concrete. The success for this design was my initially my prototypes and small scale model which helped me make identify the problems in my design and make improvement. Through my journey I realised the importance of making small scale model and how it benefits in saving time and material.
