Working on Soft wood
Week 5 Blog
As part of my second rotation on wood material. I researched on the soft wood. Softwood are lighter in weight and are less dense than most of the hardwoods. Softwoods are in light in colour and they usually grow quicker than hardwoods. Soft woods are flexible and are easy to work on. In the wood workshop, we were taught the basic hands tools and safety precautions. I also learned about different joint used to join two woods such as butt joint, butterfly joint. Learning from metal rotation I tried to make my final idea in soft wood but I failed because I tried putting more pressure while cutting therefore I took it as a lesson and made changes to my final idea. I would take this as a lesson and improve my design. I realized my design should be simple than being complicated. I realized making a simple design is not bad as a toy with simplicity is better for my target audience.
